Shaker Heights Arts & Music Festival

CRAFT FAIRS ODC fairs feature artists from across the nation, working in ceramics, metal, jewelry, photography, painting, glass and more.


The Shaker Heights Arts and Music Festival On June 19–20 ODC’s “CraftFair at Hathaway Brown” was transformed into the first annual “Shaker Heights Arts and Music Festival.” 150 ODC artists participated in the vibrant new street fair featuring popular local bands, a great selection of food booths, children’s activities and entertainment.
	“With increasing parking problems at the old Hathaway Brown location and high expenses that forced us to charge admission, we were no longer competitive with the plethora of crafts fairs in the area,” said Executive Director Sharon Kokot. “We knew that we needed to make a change. By forming a partnership with the City of Shaker Heights and the Shaker Arts Council, we were able to secure a high-visibility location with lots of parking, drop the admission charge, and bring in more entertainment.”
It was a win-win combination that also brought in many more fairgoers. Over 5000 visitors shopped the artists’ booths during the two-day show, and patron feedback was overwhelmingly positive. With input from participating artists and visitors, we are already working with our partners to build on this success to make next year’s Shaker Heights Arts and Music Festival even better.
