Unique Handcrafted Gifts

at the OHIO CRAFT MUSEUM

November 8–December 23, 2015

(Columbus, OH)—The Ohio Craft Museum will be overflowing with unique, handcrafted items during the 16th annual “Gifts of the Craftsmen” holiday exhibition and sale. Presented November 8–December 23, the sale features beautiful jewelry, thrown pottery, art glass, baskets, clothing and more, by approximately 100 fine craft artists. All works are suitably priced for gift giving, ranging in price from $12 retro screen-printed tea towels in a variety of designs and $20 wheel-thrown coffee mugs to beautiful sterling silver earrings and necklaces by Mike Kozumplik, priced from $40 to $600.

“”We find wonderful work by new artists every year for this event. This year is no exception,” commented museum director Betty Talbott. “Rhode Island artist Nancy Reid Carr’s contemporary aluminum cuff bracelets are printed with her own photography, depicting scenes from nature. Adorable stuffed animals by Renee D’Amico double as baby rattles, and digitally printed skirts and pillows by Julie Yassenoff, Columbus, are trendy and fun.”

Returning favorites include beautiful silk scarves by Georgie Cline, Columbus, recycled wool “monsters” by Kentucky artist Heidi Wineland, and sterling silver jewelry by Ginger Seiple, Columbus. Shoppers will also find an assortment of handcrafted ornaments, from beautiful blown glass balls and fanciful ceramic figures, to traditional stars and snowflakes. Artist-made holiday cards, available individually and in sets, are available as well.

The museum is kicking off the shopping event with a free public reception on Sunday, November 8, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Guests will have the first opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind and limited-edition gifts while the selection is at its peak. Free refreshments will be served. Call (614) 486-4402 to reserve a time.

Half-day gift-making workshops for children in grades 1–6 will be held Monday, December 21, or Tuesday, December 22, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. or 1:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. Children will create two projects suitable for gift-giving, complete with handmade gift wrap.
