SIXTEEN ARTISTS RECEIVE AWARDS AT

THE “BEST OF 2019”

(Columbus, OH)— Juror Stefanie Kirkland selected 16 awards from the 88 works in the “Best of 2019,” on view May 5–July 28 at the Ohio Craft Museum:

The $1000 Challenge Award for Excellence—the exhibition’s top prize—went to ceramics artist William C. Brouillard (Cleveland, OH) for Steam-Punk Buddha. Metals artist Vicki M. Cook (Watervliet, MI) received the Watkins Printing Poster Award and Yassenoff Family Award for Excellence for Don’t Touch Me Brooch. Winners of cash awards are (name, title of work, award): Cody F. Bowen and Eun Gean Bowen, Metamorphosis, Award for Excellence; Laurel Izard, 7 of Wands, Brian Lonsway Memorial Award for Humor in Craft; Jennifer Dunlap, Synapse and Lightning Strikes, Labino Memorial Award for Excellence in Glass; T. R. Steiner, Ordovician’s Cultch, Functional Ceramics Workshop Award for Excellence; Izabel Zeng, Voice, Ed Honton Memorial Award for Excellence; Nancy Taylor, Kimono, Barbara Robinson Award for Excellence in Traditional Craft; John Lauer, RAM,  ODC Director’s Award for Excellence; Patricia Kennedy-Zafred, $1000 ODC Scholarship Award; Todd Celmar, $500 ODC Scholarship Award; Rebecca Szparagowski, Brooke Hannan Memorial Emerging Craftsman Scholarship Award; Drew W. LaVercombe, ODC Board of Trustees Emerging Craftsman Award.
