33rd Annual Fine Art and Fine Craft Fair
NEW! 3 Days Only!
December 4–6, 2009
(Columbus, OH)—Shoppers have just three days to explore this year’s Winterfair, the 33rd annual juried fair of fine art and fine craft by over 400 artists from across the country. Held December 4–6 at the Ohio Exposition Center on the Ohio State Fairgrounds, this artists’ market features ceramics, glass, wearable art, jewelry, sculpture, painting and photography. Discerning shoppers will find everything from a beautiful print for their office or home to a hand-carved wooden bowl for salads or snacks.
“Winterfair offers a colorful, alternative shopping experience,” said Sharon Kokot, executive director of Ohio Designer Craftsmen, fair producers. “And for the more practical, these items are not only handcrafted, but many are useful as well. Here you can find everything from a ceramic mixing bowl to a leather purse, silk jacket, or a pair of earrings that you won’t find anywhere else.”
Shoppers will find something to fit every budget. Indiana artist Paul Jeselskis makes functional and decorative porcelain work for the home, while Grace Stokes of Cleveland Heights creates sterling silver jewelry with gemstones and polymer clay elements. Theresa Gallup, Missouri, uses fabric piecing, dyeing and appliqué techniques to design new apparel items from recycled kimonos. Georgia artist Angela Bond’s Pop Art paintings of animals are bright and fun. These artists will be among the 400 exhibitors from 34 states.
Proceeds from Winterfair support exhibitions and education programs of the Ohio Craft Museum. Hours are Friday, December 4, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Saturday, December 5, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; and Sunday, December 6, noon—5 p.m. Admission: $7; Ohio Designer Craftsmen members free; children 12 and under free. Media support provided by Time Warner Cable and Ohio magazine.
Winterfair is produced by Ohio Designer Craftsmen (ODC), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of fine craft, and helping artists develop professional skills. ODC receives ongoing funding from the Greater Columbus Arts Council, Ohio Arts Council and the Columbus Foundation. Membership is open to both artists and craft enthusiasts.
