Art + Mindfulness Series

Refresh and reset for the new year by creating art with meaning. Spark your creativity with classes designed to inspire and invigorate your creative process.

SESSION FULL

February 14
Intro to Indigo Shibori
with Dr. Janette Knowles

Dr. Janette Knowles, art professor and gallery director at Ohio Dominican University and maker-artist, will introduce workshop participants to the history of indigo shibori (and it’s a rich one, for sure!) and then demonstrate five historic shibori techniques which students can then use to dye cloth that will be provided. Participants should bring a pair of rubber gloves (any kind, even disposable medical ones), and a roll of cheap dental floss. All other shibori materials are provided.

10:00 am-1:00 pm

March 21
Music Meets Canvas
with Larry Collins

Artist and jazz musician Larry Collins will lead a unique and immersive painting class that blends visual art with the power of sound. Participants will paint while listening to carefully selected music, allowing rhythm, mood and improvisation to inspire their creative process. This engaging experience encourages artists of all levels to explore how music can influence color, movement and expression on the canvas.

1:00 pm-4:00 pm

April 25
Guided Junk Journaling
with Laura Bendoly

Got stuff bottled up inside? Release it to the world via junk journaling, the artistic merger of personal writing and mixed media collage, where we layer meditative prose with magazine cutouts, newsprint, wall art, birthday wrappers, old paper bags and whatever’s around the house, creating a feel-good, cathartic, one-of-a-kind personal expression.

1:00 pm-4:00 pm

$50 per workshop or $125 for all three.
