SESSION FULL
Join me as I share my creative journey and the many paths it has taken me down. Discover the simple meditative process of weaving as you learn to make a small ribbed pouch. Nature provides a palette of possibilities, and we’ll use a variety of natural items to create something that is uniquely you.
About Phyllis: I draw inspiration from the world around me, especially in the beautiful simplicity found in nature. The endless cycle of change found in the natural world is present in our own lives and it is through change we evolve, and so too does what we create.
Since I was a child I’ve had an innate fascination with nature: collecting leaves, bark, stones, sticks, flowers or whatever I could find and then creating something only I understood. I didn’t realize it then, but this experimental time as a child laid the foundation for creative exploration throughout my life, leading me to drawing, sewing, quilting, weaving, dyeing, metal, clay, etc. Over the years, I’ve worked as a technical illustrator, studio artist, art educator, education coordinator and now community outreach coordinator at the Ohio Craft Museum. What I’ve discovered is that I find the most joy inspiring creativity in others. I believe creativity lies within all of us. Whatever path we take in life, creativity expands our options and allows a different view of the world around us.
