“My series of couples on a bench goes way back to my childhood. There was a children’s TV show in Phoenix that used to have comedy skits with people sitting on a park bench.
I used wood for the base so I could drill into it to hold the steel bench in place, and clay for the people because of its modeling properties.
The story is told by the couple’s body language.”
